Abstract:
Drinking water samples of Quetta city were collected from 35 different localities. Physico-chemistry parameters such as pH, conductivity, dissolved oxygen (D.O.). alkalinity, hardness were measured immediately. The major and trace cations such as Na+, K+, Ca2+, Mg2+, B3+, Pb2+, Mn2+, Zn2+, Cd2+ and various anions such as Cl1-, Br1-, SO42-, CO32-, NO31- were determined using atomic absorption spectroscopy (A.A.S.), flame photometry (F.P.) and chemical analysis. It is found that the water is alkaline in nature and pH ranges from 7.0 to 8.5, Pb, Mn, Zn, Cd and B are below the detection limits. The values were compared with standards of various health agencies and all the parameters were found within the permissible limit (few exception).
