Approximate analytic solution of the sitnikov problem for very small primary eccentricities.

Abstract:
An analytical expression for the position of the infinitesimal body in the elliptic Sitnikov problem is derived using two-variable expansion method. The solution is expected to be valid for small amplitude oscillations in cases of small primary eccentricities. It is shown that both the amplitude and frequency of oscillation depends on time and this dependence is in accord with earlier results of other authors.
