Abstract:
Xylazine was administered intramuscularly as anaesthetic agent in the dose of 0.5mg/kg in wild deer (Gazella bennetti) of Sindh province of Pakistan for carrying out surgical procedure in animal. Five minutes after injection sedation occurred in animal. Twenty three minutes after the injection surgical procedure was complete. Recovery from maximum sedation started at 45 minutes after injection. Complete recovery was observed at 300 minutes after injection. It is concluded that xylazine in the dose of 0.5mg/kg administered intramuscularly produced good sedation and analgesia and muscular relaxation.
