Abstract:
This talk is about the role and application of digital twins in industry 4.0. A digital twin is a virtual representation of a physical object or system. The digital twin technology has applications in space applications, aircraft production, nuclear power plants, automobile manufacturing etc. Both the actual and virtual worlds are synchronized by exchange of data in real-time throughout the lifecycle of the object or the system. Any deviation between the two worlds leads to useful insights, decision- making, and prediction. The end goal is improved performance and minimum downtime. This talk will also present a case study where digital twins are applied to automate the precision agricultural tasks.
