Abstract:
This paper explores the connection between green biotechnology, climate change, and legal frameworks with a particular focus on the recent floods in Buner, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The study highlights how deforestation, unplanned construction, and human negligence have aggravated the impacts of climate change, leading to frequent floods and soil erosion in the region. Green biotechnology offers sustainable solutions such as genetically modified crops, biofuels, and eco-friendly agricultural practices that can help reduce environmental damage. The legal system has a vital role in implementing environmental laws, ensuring responsible land use, and protecting natural resources. The paper argues that science and law must work hand in hand to mitigate the threats of climate change. The case of Buner’s devastating floods provides a lesson that negligence of nature and weak governance intensify climate risks. If appropriate legal and environmental steps are not taken, the people of Buner and other regions of Pakistan will continue to face devastating floods and climate-induced disasters.
