Abstract:
Clinical facility, for the present study, was available at Cairns Hospital and `Railway Hospital, Moghalpura, Lahore. Serum samples of healthy and type 2 diabetic subjects (30-70 years of age), were obtained along with their . case history. These were divided further into four subgroups as 30-39, 40-49, 50-59 and, 60-70 years of age. Diabetics had already been diagnosed for their status at the hospital, whereas, the status of healthy subjects as confirmed through their glycemic assessment at the laboratory. Agarose gel electrophoresis was performed for studying the lupoprotein profile of healthy profile of healthy and diabetic subjects. The gels were photographed and the data was analyzed by Gene-Genius Bioimaging Gel Documentation system. In an overall comparison, the value of low density lipoproteins decreased significantly in all except for 40-49 years age group, in type 2 diabetics :compared to the healthy subjects. Alterations in lipoproteins composition strongly predict increased cardiovascular risks in type II diabeties.
