A short note on the fishes caught by M.F.V. Jalwa from the Bay of Bengal.

Abstract:
M.F.V. Jalwa is a stern trawler constructed in Karachi Shipyard and operated in East Pakistan Waters in March and October 1963. Trawl nets ranging from 45 to 86 ft. were used. The operations were restricted upto 20 fathom depth. The catch averaged 3 tons per day and 450 lbs. per fishing bone. The maximum catch per haul was 4. 480 lbs. A list of the caught fishes is given along with the scientific and common names which consisted of 44 families and 78 species. Some of the fishes. which have not so far been reported from the catches of the trawlers in the Arabian Sea, are described; namely: Rhinobatos annanalai Norman, Fistularia villosa (Klung.), Polynemus sexfilis Val. and Sillago panijus (Ham.).
