Abstract:
With a suitable choice of stimulus duration, one can obtain a discrimination of 10 to 20 times in favour of denervated fibers against nerve or normal fibers. This can be useful in neurapraxias. In a mild neurapraxia where most of the nerve fibers are intact, normal conduction times may be recorded with very little incidence of splintering of E.M.G. Specific test by direct stimulation of the muscle can reveal the presence, number and state of progress of denervated muscle fibers.
