Abstract:
The quality of water delivered through taps in the hospital contains a lot of contaminants which are harmful for dialysis use. Therefore a need was felt to treat the tap water so it would be fit for use in dialysis units. The present studies were conducted on six samples of raw water, obtained from PCSIR Laboratories Complex, Lahore, General Hospital Lahore and Mayo Hospital Lahore, employing ion exchange chromatograph for their treatment. As the dialysis unit employed in the hospitals are very expensive and a greater number are required, so a dialysis unit was fabricated on an inexpensive basis by employing chemicals easily available in Pakistan. The unit thus prepared recovered 1000 liters of treated water one run and contained a capacity for two days.
