Abstract:
Lipid components of common edible finfish from Karachi fish harbour were studied by standard methods. The analysis showed wide variations in total lipid,,cholesterol and total esterified fatty acids (TEFA) contents. Highest level of total lipid and lowest levels of cholesterol and TEFA were found in Sillago sihama. Whereas highest level of cholesterol was found in Pomadasys kaakan, and TEFA in Alepes djeddaba respectively. The study showed no correlation between the level of total lipid, cholesterol and TEFA within species.
