Abstract:
Keeping in view the inadequate knowledge concerning oral conditions of children in rural areas of Pakistan, the preventive dentistry i.e. children dentistry may be developed in the country by (1) arranging PostGraduate Diploma Courses (DPD), in order to train dental public health expert for administration and planning of such programme on district level. (2) Auxiliary Staff (like L.H.V.) may be trained to educate the school children (Rural and Urban both) and to treat their minor ailments. These steps shall overcome dental manpower deficiency with minimum expenditure within less number of years. The present L.H.V. and school teachers and other paramedical staff engaged in medical relief work may also be trained for 3 months to educate the school children in a formal way. (4) Religious leaders may be persuaded to deliver sermons on dental health and its importance. The results of the examination done in Gajju Matta and Ferozwala have also been summarized.
