Abstract:
Fourteen replicated field trials were carried out in farmers' fields in Dera Ismail Khan district during 1991, 1992 and 1993 to study the response of paddy to balanced application of N,P and K. All the trials were laid out using randomized complete block design with 2, 3 and 3 replications during 1991. 1992 and 1993, respectively. The results showed that the effect of location and treatments were highly significant (P) during 1991 and 1993, and interactions between locations and treatments were non-significant. During 1992, the effects of locations and treatments as well as their interactions were highly significant (P 0. 01). Exclusion of N or P from the fertilizer treatments reduced the yields significantly and were comparable with control. Balanced application of N, P and K proved better than the other treatments. Lime content of soil proved to be a yield limiting factor and caused yield differences among various experimental sites. For getting profitable yields, N, P and K should be applied in a balanced proportion.
