Abstract:

A comprehensive and flexible expert system for ultrasonographic examination reporting and data storage is presented. There are provisions in ULTRASYS so that the stored data can be used for retrospective research at a later date. This system is developed with a new approach, which was seldom used in the recent past. The authors of this paper have combinedly used Artificial Intelligence knowledge Engineering, Bio-Medical Electronics and Computer Science to develop the expert system. They first studied Ultrasonographic examination, it's reporting and then developed the system after a series of discussions with the experts of ultrasonography.
