Abstract

Seven fractions have been isolated from the ethanolic extract of stem of Bryophyllum calycinum, one fraction gave positive test with Dragendorff's reagent indicating the presence of Alkaloids whereas the fractions were nonalkaloidal. The physical constants of alkaloids isolated from fraction were determined. The spectral properties of alkaloids indicate the presence of isoquinoline alkaloidal ring structure.
