Abstract:
Lasers have a prospective future in medical and dental profession. Here in this article basics of lasers: classification, types, general applications of lasers, uses of lasers in dentistry in detail, Cost effectiveness of laser use and laser safety & precautions are described. It is concluded that while choosing a dental laser it is necessary to look at all the laser wavelengths available, test each laser system, read the literature and consult the clinicians who are already using lasers before making a decision.
