Abstract:
The fundamental reason of failure of National Tuberculosis Programme was due to dilution of responsibility & authority right from the Centre down through the Provinces to the district level; nonexistence or impotence of the Central Tuberculosis Board. Thus anti-tuberculosis activities under National Tuberculosis Programme never received the political priority among the integrated services. The attitudes of the Health Administration at Provincial level has never been properly tuned to National Tubeculosis Programme. The programme was perhaps never presented to the finance department at Centre and Provinces in right earnest.
