Abstract:
Two hundred and six hormone applied crosses, C-tetraploid C. olitorius x C. siliquosus with the latter species as pollen parent. Both hybrids are slow growing and show delayed flowering and flowers shed one day after opening. Both show 59% pollen sterility. It is concluded that the genomes of C. olitorius and C. siliquosus are well differentiated from each other and that only weak hybrids 'can be produced between them and that too when hormone is applied in the pedicels of pollinated flowers.
