Algal vegetation of eroded lands of Azakhel, District Peshawar, NWFP, Pakistan.

Abstract:
The algal flora fo eroded undulating arid lands of Azakhel, District summer and arid conditions. Blue-green algal dominated the area. Schizothrix friesii and Scytonema schmidtii were the dominant members of the community. Diatoms and yellow-green algae were conspicuously absent. The soil was silt loam in texture, alkaline in nature and the percentage of CaCO3 was comparatively high.
