Abstract:
Adult population of Bemisia tabaci (Gen.) ranged from 0.09 to 5.4, 0.07 to 5.2, 0.02 to 1.8, 0 to 1.6 and 0 to 0.2 per leaf on cultivars 'Nepal-1', '0-4', 'C-6', 'Yue-Yuan No. 5' and 'Sunkukra', respectively. Immature stages (nymphs and puparia) ranged from 0.05 to 42.5, 0.03 to 54.9, 0.03 to 21.8, 0.03 to 17. 8, 0.01 to 1.3 per leaf on the five cultivars, respectively. Immature stages were most abundant on the mature leaves. Densities of Polyphagotarsonemus latus (Banks) ranged from 0. 2 to 38.6, 0.03 to 36.3, 0.03 to 13.1, 0.02 to 16.5, 0.03 to 1.0/leaf on the five cultivars, respectively. This mite was most abundant on the lower (ventral) surface of young leaves. Densities. of Amrasca devastans (Dist.) ranged from 0.02 to 2.6 per leaf on the last cultivar only. This jassid occurred on the young and mature leaves. The predacious mite, Amblyseius delhiensis (N & K), was usually found in association with these pests.
