A cross-sectional analysis of restorative treatments planned at a dental school.

Abstract:
OBJECTIVES: The aim of the study was to obtain information on the type of dental restorations planned for placement in the student clinics of the Male Campus (DUC) of the College of Dentistry , King Saud University (KSUCD), Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. MATERIALS AND METHODS: This was a cross-sectional study. The students of the three undergraduate courses (IIlrd year BDS, IVth year BDS and Vth year BDS of Operative Dentistry) were asked to submit the treatment plans of the patients approved during the first month of the Ist semester of the session 2001-2. The approved treatment plans of 107 adult patients involving 852 restorations were submitted . The pattern and reasons of restorations were investigated by using basic statistical analyses including cross-tabulation.
