Abstract:
Twenty-one (21) afforestation projects, covering a total area of over 7000 hectares are now being executed by afforestation companies in the western region of Abu Dhabi. In addition, the Forest Department of the western region of Abu Dhabi is handling 27 projects with a total area of 5,000 hectares and the Agriculture Department is responsible for about 6000 hectares. For future forest development, the following requirements are important : 1) detailed information about ground water and climatic conditions 2) organization of research work 3) conserving and developing existing natural vegetation 4) wildlife introduction and management 5) extension and training work.
