Abstract:
Crop responses to Zn and Cu from Swat Valley, N.W.F.P. have rarely been studied, therefore this study was designed to see effect of Cu and Zn together on wheat yield and its economics. Zn application increased wheat grain and straw yield significantly.Cu application had no significant effect on grain yield but it increased the straw yield significantly. Zn and Cu application increased Zn concentration and uptake in wheat. Cu concentration and uptake was increased significantly with application of Cu. lncreasing Zn significantly reduced the concentration and uptake of Cu in wheat. This was perhaps due to their antagonistic effects. The Zn requirement based on 90% relative grain yield basis was 1.1 kg Zn/ha, while the most economical rate was 2.0 kg Zn/ha.
