A study of inter-granular corrosion and powder formation 18/8 steel.

Abstract:
The heat treatment of stainless steel, the carbide precipitation in the grain boundaries and the influence of heat treatment on the powder formation has been studied. A bath containing 30 ml HES04 15 ml HF and 10 ml 11202 in one litre of water is most suitable for the electrochemical disintegration of heat-treated stainless steel. The optimum conditions for using the bath have been determined.
