Abstract:
Acanthosentis sindhensis n.sp. is being described in detail from the intestine of freshwater fish, Labeo rohita (Ham). This is the fourth record of the genus from Pakistan. The previous three species have been reported from fish hosts namely Arrius serratus; Labeo rohita and Catla catla. The present form is small, curved and ventrad. Proboscis small, globular. Proboscis hooks curved in alternating levels not in a straight line; proboscis receptacle cylindrical, single layered with ganglion at base. Hypodermic nuclei 4-6 in number and oval in shape. Lemnisci unequal, 55-59 rings of body spines. The spines of hindbody widely spaced. Testes rounded to oval, tandem, contiguous in posterior half of the body. Cement gland syncytial with nuclei; uterine bell elongated and eggs numerous small and elongated.
