The distribution and taxonomy of some members of Naviculales and Fragilariales from Peshawar valley, Pakistan

Abstract:
Sixty two species of Orders Naviculales and Fragilariales were recorded from Peshawar Valley. Naviculales was represented by 9 genera and 45 species viz, Amphora (2 Spp.), Cymbella (8 Spp.), Gomphonema (10 Spp.), Gyrosigma (3 Spp.), Navicula (17 Spp.), Pinnularia (2 Spp.), Pleurosigma (1 Spp.), Rhopalodia (1 Sp.) and Stauroneis (1 Sp.). Fragilariales consisted of 3 genera and 17 species viz, Diatoma (3 Spp.), Fragilaria (4 Spp.) and Synedra (10 Spp.).
