Abstract:
The theory of acupuncture is based around the energy tai which circulates through 12 important organs via lung-large intestine-stomach-spleen-heart-small intestine-bladder-kidney-circulation sex-triple warmer-gall bladder liver. Its mal adjustment, deficiency or excess results in disease which is diagnosed by pulse diagnosis, needle reaction and various signs and symptoms. The treatment consists of insertion of needles some mm to 1 cm deep at some 1000 pre-arranged points on meridians traversing the body. Out of these 50 points when stimulated, help the patient and 50 make the patient worse. Each meridian has one point for notification and one for sedation. Pain spots on these meridians indicate the disease of that particular organ. The needles after insertion are either left for sometime or flicked to and fro. In Ryodoraku, the Japanese modification, needles are connected to weak current discharging "neurometer." Theoretically through Acupuncture, all diseases affected by physiological processes can be cured except purely anatomical troubles such as kidney stone.
