Abstract:

The growth kinetics of Streptococcus pyogenes group A, and Escherichia coli MW in presence or absence of the synthetic iron chelators such as EDDA (ethylenediamin-di-o-hydroxyphenyl acetic acid), a, a-dipyridyl and apotransferrin (human origin) was monitored. A large molar excess of any of these chelators (over Fe) in the growth medium had no significant effect on the streptococcal growth as compared to E.coli MW.
