Abstract:

The present investigation describes the quantitative and qualitative distribution of lactate dehydrogenase (LD) in the mitochondria of rat liver. It has been observed that more anodic migrating isoenzymes like LD-1 and LD-2 were attached to the mitochondria. Detergents and ultrasonic treatments were carried out to extract the LD activity. Possible reasons for the attachment of LD to the mitochondrial membrane have been discussed.
