Abstract
Low level of resistance (about three-fold) against primiphos-methyl was detected in the adults of the saw-toothed grain becItle. Oryzaephilus surinamensis (L.) which was already resistant to malath-ion (about four-fold), -LD5n values of both insecticides were significantly different at 9596 confidence limits. This highlighted the necessity of measurement of resistance in insect pests and to find out suitable alternative insecticides so that they are available before actual need arises for effective pest control programmes.
