Abstract:
Objective: To determine the vitamin D status in patients presenting in RMU allied hospitals. Methodology: This descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted on 228 patients presenting in RMU allied hospitals, Rawalpindi from January to June 2019. Data were collected using selfadministered questionnaire consisting of demographic details (age, gender, socioeconomic status) and related values including vitamin D levels, related factors including vitamin D supplementation, pregnancy and diseases that impair vitamin D absorption. Data were analyzed by SPSS version 23. Results: Out of 228 individuals, 76 (33.3%) were male and 152 (66.7%) female. Majority of (about 60.1%) had deficient state of vitamin D levels. In our study, about 14.5 percent of the population had insufficient vitamin D levels. Conclusion: Vitamin D deficiency was common and was more common in females.
