Abstract:
In scalable data integration system, a major challenging task is to identify and select relevant sources for a given user query. This task is harder due to semantic heterogeneity between distributed sources. Semantic heterogeneity can be catered by mapping global ontology and source ontologies semantically. Element and structural based mapping techniques are unable to map the global ontology and source ontology semantically due to the unavailability of context aware metadata. We propose semantics based mapping architecture for scalable data integration system which utilizes OntoWordnet ontology to discover all the semantically valid mappings and eliminate all the invalid mappings by finding the actual context (synonyms, polysemy) of corresponding concepts and properties between global ontology and source ontologies.
