Abstract:
In the world of business, SMEs (Small and Medium Enterprises) has long history of service for providing employment opportunity to the people to share, enhance and equip themselves with the global changes. The role of SMEs can not be ruled out in any developed or developing countries because it is considered to be the life blood to the growth of economy. Pakistan is also emerging as a developing country to share its value and potential in to the mainstream. There are many considerable factors for the sustainable development of a SMEs but the role of AMT (Advanced Manufacturing Technologies) in the overall development of the SMEs is indispensable. This paper presents the different CIM (Computer Integrated Manufacturing) parameters i.e. Top Management Support, Networking, Joint venture and Collaboration, System Integration and their use in the SMEs. In this regard the data was collected and analyzed to identify the areas where the implementation of CIM is unavoidable. The current dynamic and turbulent manufacturing environment has forced companies that compete globally to change traditional method of conducting business and undertake the CIM based environment to get maximum share from local as well as global market.
