Abstract:
By extending observations made on vegetation in Swat valley and on climate in Drosh, both lying in the dry oak forest zone, to other parts of Pakistan; actual biogeographical limits of the zone were determined. Dry oak forests were found to indicate mediterranean climate as elsewhere in the world. They, however, comprise of two sub-types in this country: the pure dry oak forests with true Mediterranean climate and the dry oak-chir ecotonal forests with transitional Mediterranean climate. Four plant communities have also been described in the zone.
