Abstract:
Virgin females of red cotton bug do not lay any eggs. Topical application of a juvenile hormone analogue (JHA) results in some egg deposition. The number of eggs laid vary with the amount of the dose administered, but it never reaches the number laid by normal mated females. The normal mated females and newly emerged females when treated with increasing concentrations of JHA laid correspondingly less number of eggs accompained with a gradual decrease in the time required to complete vitellogenesis.
