Abstract:
Rectified spirit (RS) manufactured by Crescent Sugar Mills Ltd., Faisalabad was used as a substitute dehydrant in the preparation of paraffin blocks and staining of animal tissue sections. The results of processing of tissues and staining of sections were comparable to that of ethanol (E. Merck). The repeated adjustment of pH of RS to neutral point (pH 7) with the addition of KOH solution was found necessary.
