Abstract:
Azomethine group of Schiff bases is known to express valuable biological activities. 1- (2, 4-Dihydroxyphenyl)-1-ethanone N`-substituted hydrazone derivatives, 4a-s, were synthesized in multistep. The starting material 2, 4-dihydroxyacetophenone (1) was stirred with hydrated hydrazine to yield 1-(2, 4-dihydroxyphenyl)-1-ethanone hydrazone (2) which was further reacted with (un)substituted benzaldehydes, 3a-s, to acquire the target molecules, 4a-s. Moreover, the synthesized derivatives 4a-s was characterized via IR, EI-MS, 1H-NMR and 13C-NMR spectral techniques. Most of the compounds were found to be valuable inhibitors of butyrylcholinesterase enzyme.
