Abstract:
The age and growth data of roach was assessed from measurements and scale examination of 1, 223 specimens collected between November 1969 and November 1971, from Lyn Tegid (North Wales). The calculated lengths at the end of each year of life decreased with each successive increase of age of the fish upon which calculations were based (Lee`s phenomenon). The Walford plots showed that L a for roach is 28.2 cm, which agrees with data collected. The growth rates of roach in British and continental waters was compared.
