Abstract:
The sandwich panels consisting of glass fibre reinforced high alumina cement skins and light weight core of expanded polystyrene were manufactured by a hand lay up method. The panels were tested to failure in bending under four-point loading by Wing Deneison Testing Machine. The strains and deflections in the panelS were measured with increasing load. The experimental results are compared with the theoretical predictions of Elastic Theory of bending of Sandwich Panels. The comparison shows that the elastic theory is fairly applicable to the case of sandwich panels niatie of glass fibre reinforced high alumina cement skins and polystyrene core.
