Abstract:
Therrich fossil- record of the Siwaliks presents a detailed history of the Miocene mammal fauna of the Indian Subcontinent. The fossil localities of the Dhulian village contain a particularly good sample of a primitive species of the mammals, Dorcatherium minus: Tragulines are the most primitive extinct and extant ruminants, which flourished during the second part of the paleogene and connected with the early radiation of artiodactyls. Dental morphology of the fossil tragulids to be described in this paper comes from the fossil localities of the village Dhulian.
