Abstract:
The second recorded occurrence of a rather rare feldspathoidal rock has been indicated in a sill in the power house area of Tarbela Dam. Minerals present include brown hornblende, green hornblende, nepheline albite, ilmemite and magnetite. The composition indicates that the rock belongs to the Ijolite series. The colour index of the rock indicates its proper name as melteigite, but the name hornblende melteigite is preferred.
