Abstract:
Methods of drying wheat seed include natural drying; sun drying; heated, unheated and humidified air drying; drying in storage and before storage; drying with desiccants; vacuum drying and freeze drying. Many factors are responsible for the lack of germination power. Among these is the invasion of seed by storage fungi. Low temperature and a low moisture content are effective in prolonging viability and maintaining quality in agricultural seed. Farms should be advised to have seed properly treated with fungicides prior to sowing,
