Abstract:

Disturbance of homeostasis in the body can cause several life-threatening diseases and atherosclerosis is one of them. Among various life threatening diseases, atherosclerosis is a major cause of deaths mainly through myocardial infarction in all over the world. Clinical and experimental results clearly suggest the relationship between hypercholesterolemia and atherosclerosis. Although there are many commercial drugs available for the treatment of hypercholesterolemia but limited beneficial effects are associated with them and mostly have varied scale of side effects. Traditional herbal therapy is a good alternative treatment which has proved their efficacy through the time course of millenniums. The need is just to divert the mindset of governments and investors to develop this field by investing a comparable amount of money. Nature has provided a remedy for every problem it created and it is our duty to explore it without violating the rules of nature.
