Abstract:
Due to the recent events of theft and terrorism biometric recognition has become a paramount for an organization to provide an accurate and reliable means of personal authentication. Fingerprint is one of the most powerful, reliable and most popular biometric technique used for personal authentication. A traditional fingerprint verification system consists of image preprocessing, feature extraction and matching phases. Sometimes, due to noise or poor quality of an image, some of these phases do not utilize the entire input data sufficiently. This raises some uncertainties and effects the performance of the system. In our proposed system effects of those uncertainties will be reduced it will verify the user by the password and by the generated hybrid codes. The performance of the biometric system is specified in terms of FAR and FRR. A System with low threshold value decreases FAR, which ensures security but increases FRR, which will trim down the user handiness. Because of the twice verification, the value of threshold in our proposed system will be set to high and it will result with low FRR as well as FAR. User convenience, security and performance of our proposed system will be high.
