Abstract:
The activity of mixing the slaked lime with organic manure against Tropinota squalida Scop. grubs was evaluated under laboratory and field conditions. The laboratory results showed that the larval mortality was proportionally related to the rate of mixing and the time of exposure. Out of thirty treated larvae about 6,5,9 and 9 larvae died after exposure to 8.0% lime-treated manure for 3,5,7 and 10 days, respectively. The lime proved to be more effective when mixed with dried manure. Adding 8.0% lime to dried manure enhanced its activity twice or three times compared with the manure containing 4.0% or 8.0% moisture, respectively. Similar results were obtained when the assessment was carried out under field conditions.
