Weed communities in the potato fields of Mastuj, District Chitral.

Abstract:
Four weed communities viz: 1, Setaria-Lepidium-Vicia in Kargin, 2, Euphorbia-Arenaria-Sonchus in Chapari, 3, Rumex-Lepidium-Datura in Khuz and 4, Chenopodium-Polygonum-Haloxylon in Brep were established during September in the potato fields of Tehsil Mastuj, District Chitral. Based on constancy and average importance value Setaria tomentosa Roxb. ex Kunth, Rumex longifolium L., Sonchus oleraceus L., Lepidium sativum L., Euphorbia falcata L., Canabis sativa L., Juncos articulatus L., Nonnea edgeworthii DC and Datura stramonium L., were designated as assertive weeds which are ecologically important in the area. Majority of the species (50%) were in constancy class III.
