Abstract:
Experimental values of the correlation parameter decrease with increasing temperature, whereas the theoretical values increase. This kind of behaviour may be due to the failure of the simple tetrahedral model of liquid water. A partial destruction of the tetrahedrally co-ordinated structure would naturally tend to decrease the correlation in orientation of close neighbors and thus diminish (Cosr) Av. Pople`s bending of the hydrogen bonds would have the same effect and is expected to be more pronounced at higher temperature.
