An intelligent decision support system for machines selection.

Abstract:
This paper presents a methodology to the design and development of an Intelligent Decision Support System (DSS) that is intended to help the user select suitable machines for a manufacturing system. The system uses visual interactive decision support framework designed to aid decision makers in selecting the most appropriate machines for manufacturing system. The framework can be used in the pre-investment stage of the planning process, after a decision has been made to build a manufacturing system. The DSS has been developed in the Visual Basic and illustrated through examples.
