Abstract:
Patients who were admitted to the Burn service of Civil Hospital, Karachi, were interviewed to elicit information on the circumstances leading to leaving the hospital against medical advice i.e. `Lama F. The major reasons advanced by patients were lack of attention by the staff and excessive expenditure on frequent hospital visits by relations. But, the real inducement towards LAMA was a relatively minor nature of the burn in cases, which allowed patients to leave with impunity after the critical phase was over.
