Abstract:
Four mutants of chickpea'CM-72','CM-681,1CM-1','CM-2' and six varieties, 'C-727','RC-32','Aug-480','E-1289','6153' and 'C-44', received from Nuclear Institute for Agriculture and Biology (NIAB), Faisalabad, were planted under the diverse agroclimatic conditions of NWFP. Mutant 'CM-72' significantly out-yielded all the entries followed by 'CM-68' at Nuclear Institute for Food and Agriculture (NIFA), Peshawar and variety 'C-44' at Karak, Kohat. It also gave better performances in disease reaction at both the locations. The mutant 'CM-72' being high yielding and blight resistant can be used as a commercial variety for general cultivation in NWFP.
