Abstract:
Uranium and radium concentrations, total beta activities, total activity for the energy ranges of 0.40-3.00 MeV and 0.80-2.77 MeV have been measured with the help of spectroscopy method eU, eTh and %K in 486 sediment as well as soil samples taken from each kilometer along the Buyuk Menderes, the biggest river in the Aegean region of the western Turkey. The mean uranium, radium, eU, eTh and potassium concentrations in the sediments and the soil samples along the river explored, are found respectively 4.82 ppm. 3.88pCi/g, 8.35ppm, 5.03ppm, 4.13% and 4.19ppm, 2.74pCi/g, 9.97ppm, 4.08ppm and 2.52%. The frequency distributions of all the measurements have been given graphically.
